Bowling Tournament

Council 5480 sojourned to Norfolk, VA for this year's bowling
tournament which happens to also be the International
Tournament. |

Founder's Day Dinner

Council 5480 met to celebrate the founding of the Knights of
Columbus and the Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney, founder of
the Knights of Columbus. |

Assembly St. Patrick's
Dinner

|
Assembly 2430's March meeting had an Irish Twist. The
Assembly served a traditional St. Patrick's Day Dinner and the
members wore green. |

KOVAR Weekend

|
Council 5480 held its annual KOVAR drive weekend at Ft. Eustis
over the 01 March 2008 weekend. Knights gave out Tootsie
Rolls and took donations for KOVAR. |

Dart Tournament

This year the Council Dart Tournament was a game of dart
baseball. |
|

Fish Fry

|
Assembly 2430 held a fish fry to raise money for the USS
Scorpion Memorial Ceremony held later this spring. Over 100
meals were served during the event. |

May 2008 Knight of the Month:
This Brother has been a volunteer for many years at St. Jerome
Church and the Knights of Columbus. At St. Jerome he is an Usher
& belongs to the Fellowship Committee. He is involved in almost
every activity that the Fellowship Group puts on. At the Knights
he has worked the Blood Drives, all the Youth Events, the
Mothers Day & Fathers Day Events, Adopt-a-Spot, KOVAR, and the
State Meetings. This Brother has also helped set up for all the
many council dinners we have had. He is a tireless working
member of this council. For his service and dedication,
please join me in congratulating Robert “Bob” Blymyer, your
Knight of the Month for May 2008. |

May 2008 Family of the Month:
This family is very caring and supportive of each other. At
Saint Jerome this Brother serves on the Parish Council and is an
Eucharistic Minister to the Sick. His wife prepares food for the
Funeral Committee. This Brother serves his community as a member
of the City of Newport News Traffic Safety Commission. At our
council he works bingo, the Wednesday A.M. Rental, Adopt-a-Spot,
etc. His wife has co-chaired several ladies events for the women
of our council and works with the bingo kitchen crew. She
supported her Knight as he moved through the chairs of this
council and now as he serves Father Bader Assembly as Faithful
Navigator. It is my pleasure to announce the Family of the
Month for May 2008 is Ed (F.N.) and Heidi Curran. |
