Father's Day Picnic

Council 5480 hosted a Father's Day Picnic to honor all of our fathers
and the important role they play in the family.
Appreciation Dinner
30 May 2009
Council 5480 conducted their annual Appreciation Dinner, ending this
fraternal year's major activities. The Council honored the Police
Officer of the Year, Fire Fighter of the Year, and Sherriff's Deputy of the
Year amongst others.
USS Scorpion Memorial Ceremony
24 May 2009
Sir Knights from Assembly 2430 conducted their annual memorial ceremony for
the men of the USS Scorpion. This is the only memorial ceremony
dedicated solely to the brave sailors lost aboard the USS Scorpion.
Mother's Day Breakfast 2009
17 May 2009
Council 5480 hosted their annual Mother's Day Breakfast at their council
home. Brother Knights were invited to bring mom to a tasty meal of
eggs, pancakes, and all the trimmings.
State Bowling Tournament
28 March 2009
Council 5480 fielded four teams at the annual State Bowling Tournament held
in Woodbridge, Virginia.
June 2009 Knights of the Month
This Brother Knight volunteers his time most Mondays and
Thursdays at our council home working our charity fundraiser, Bingo. He is
motivated to work in any area needed, be it the instant sales counter, lucky 7,
jackpot, or winner take all games. He has the personality to make the players
feel welcome and they miss him when he is not there. Brothers, for all he
contributes to the success of our bingo operation, please join me in
congratulating the Knight of the Month for June 2009, Jeff James.
June 2009 Family of the Month
This family is very active at their Church and our Council. At St. Jerome
this Brother is an Usher, his wife a Greeter. Together they are on the
Fellowship Committee, work Port, set-up soup suppers and volunteer on weekends
to keep the Church sparkling clean. At the Knights he works Blood Drives, most
Youth Events, the Mothers Day & Fathers Day Events, Adopt-a-Spot, KOVAR, and the
State Meetings. Also, this Brother and his wife help set up the main hall for
most of the council dinners and events we have. For their service and
dedication, it is my honor and privilege to announce the Family of the Month for
June 2009 is Bob and Nancy Blymyer.
