On Saturday, November 14, in observance of Veterans Day, Council 5480 hosted a dinner to especially honor our own veterans of the council. Two highly decorated veterans were featured: Joseph Vannucchi of WWII and George Hart of the Viet Nam war.
Brother Joe’s medals were earned in the ‘40s, but he did not receive them until 2006!
Brother George’s long list of medals includes citations, ribbons, V device, a Purple Heart (for wounded in combat) when taking a blast from a grenade, which took out parts of his 4 limbs.
The lounge and the table settings were appropriately decked out in Red, White and Blue. At each table, a center piece imitating a burst of fireworks surrounded by five candles, representing five branches of the service. The arts of culinary and decorating of the Messiers were tastefully enjoyable and appreciated by all. The evening was filled with live music by the Delvers.
