Thanksgiving Meals on Wheels

Walter Pollard Council 5480 members, along with their families and friends, gathered at the council home on Thanksgiving morning to pick up and deliver 160 meals to recipients in Hampton and Newport News.

By collaborating with Peninsula Agency on Aging (PAA), the council pays for the cost of the meals and provides volunteers to deliver them. This has been an annual effort by the council for a number of years, to substitute the regular drivers, whom do not deliver on holidays. A BIG thank you to Frank and Faye Dougherty, our long time Program chairpersons, who have been working diligently every year in a painstaking task of coordinating and accurately plotting and allocating delivery routes.
